Renesmee didn't have very much to during the nights. Jacob was always patrolling with his pack mates and she wasn't usually allowed out of the house after dark. Though she had grown up, the years seemed like days to her parents. They still viewed her as a young child which was their own right, though at times annoying. Years to vampires were as short as days. Still, Renesmee obeyed her restrictions and curfews since they were set by her parents.
The house was quiet for the most part, not that vampires really ever made much noise. If Nessie were human, it would be hard to tell if anyone was even home, though her senses usually tipped her off on the presence of her family for the most part.
Out of boredom, Nessie had decided to explore the massive book shelves in Carlisle's study. She looked up to her grandfather (for all intents and purposes) quite a bit. When she was young she would copy everything he did, and at times try to repeat everything he said. More than often he used large words, and Nessie would just end up mumbling softly as if she both understood the word and as if she could say it properly. Even now, Nessie continued to look up to her grandfather, which is why she decided to borrow a few books to occupy her time.
Sitting on the sofa in the living room, Renesmee had a few books at her side though none really caught her interest beyond the first two or three pages. She wished someone was home other than herself.

Alice was sitting in her room, waiting on Jasper to get back from the hunt. He and the men hadn't fed in awhile and it was beginning to show. Even though Nessie was half vampire, the temptation due to her being half human, was a bit much for Jasper. Her poor husband. There were times where it seemed he'd never get used to the "vegetarian" style that the Cullens lived by. Bella was off visiting Charlie while he was at work, and that left most of the house to herself, except of course Nessie.
She knew Nessie hated the strict rules that her parents set. Honestly she didn't understand why Bella and Edward were so strict about her. It's not like the girl couldn't take care of herself. That and she had a whole pack of wolves and vampires right here at her own command should she ever really need their assistance. Alice knew that eventually Nessie would want to break out and do something to catch her parents unaware. Deciding she needed to check up on her niece, Alice headed downstairs, pretending to fetch one of the cloned blood that Carlisle managed to get from work from time to time.
She followed Nessie's scent and saw she was headed for Carlisle's study. Giving a little giggle, Alice walked on in behind her. It was all so cute the way Nessie looked up to Carlisle, and pretend to do whatever he did. She really did love her grandfather. Wow it was still strange to call Carlisle a grandfather, even stranger to see Bella as a mother. That was NOT part of Alice's original vision from when she saw Bella joining their family. Then again, after the whole wolf thing, she understood why she hadn't seen it. She wasn't able to see anything past the wolf clan of La Push. "Hey Nessie... sneaking in a book or two while Carlisle's away?" she asked as she slid in next to her and picked up a book herself.
